Prysmian Group, with Eskom being the end client, entrusted the Joint Venture between Eurico Ferreira South Africa & Edison Power Group, the installation of Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) cable in 400kV Ariadne – Venus Transmission Line, in South Africa.
This Transmission Line stretches from Estcourt to Pietermaritzburg in KwaZulu Natal Province. The project comprises the stringing of OPGW cable in a length of approximately 120,7 km.
Eskom has been expanding its infrastructure through additional power plants and transmission lines built to meet rising electricity demands in South Africa. This project will improve the overall reliability of ESKOM’s telecommunication network system, which will benefit both Eskom and all electricity users in the above mentioned area.
This award enables the establishment of a new partnership between EFSA/EPG JV and Prysmian Group, which has a multiannual contract with Eskom for the supply and services of all OPGW cables for Eskom PDP (Power Delivery Projects) transmission lines. Prysmian Group is an Italian multinational corporation that manufactures electric power transmission and telecommunications cables and systems.
This project follows Proef Group strategy of diversification of its Portfolio of Services and Clients.
